They say to create a life you don’t need a holiday from – so let’s start there, North Bondi. Tell us a little bit as to why you chose the local area of North Bondi to set up your first Pilates studio?
Absolutely, creating a life you don't need to escape from is such an inspiring way to live. Choosing North Bondi for my first Pilates studio was a no-brainer. With the beach so close, we get to bask in the most beautiful sunshine and take inspiration from the ocean. It's the perfect backdrop for uplifting the spirit and energising the body, right before or after a Pilates session.
North Bondi is also buzzing with great local businesses and cafes that also contribute to the casual and easygoing atmosphere of the area. We're all neighbours who are passionate about health and well-being.
You must have a steady stream of friends, family and visitors that want to experience a Body by Berner class – is there a boutique hotel in the area you recommend for out-of-town visitors?
You cannot go past QT Bondi with its incredible views and location.
This hotel has incredible views overlooking Bondi Beach and busy Campbell Parade, where there is an amazing array of retail and restaurants that see both fashion and food on your doorstep.
How about in Sydney – do you have any favourite neighbourhood destinations you like to recommend to those visiting?
Yes, absolutely.
Some of my neighbourhood favourites include:
Paddington: 10 William St. for a buzzing hole in the wall Italian diner that is authentic and pulls a great crowd.
Rose Bay: Fei Jei Restaurant is a local institution with sleek space. I love catching up with friends here.
Rushcutters Bay/Paddington: Bon Ricardo (an Italian institution in Sydney first opening its doors in 1987 and meaning Italian for 'Good Memory')
Potts Point Bistro 916: (a French neo-bistro bringing a cool, understated elegance to its landmark Challis Avenue site at the Paris end of Potts Point neighbourhood)
I also love being outdoors, with some of my favourite Sydney walks including:
The Royal Botanical Gardens
Palm Beach: The Light House Walk
Vaucluse: The Hermitage Walk
... and a visit to the Camp Cove Kiosk is a great way to soak in the best of Sydney's Harbourside beaches!
