Paramount House Hotel

Proudly based from a star location in the Surry Hills neighbourhood of Sydney lies what could be the ultimate neighbourhood stop for a unique lifestyle experience. This casual yet refined and very well-orchestrated hot spot doubles up on a multitude of vibrations that make a hotel buzz.

Paramount House is a 29-room boutique hotel with various room categories giving off a New York-style loft feel within each. The establishment also offers the perfect hangout for those with a keen eye for design, a love of coffee, and an interest in the local lifestyle scene.

The former Paramount Pictures building was built in 1940 and has since been transformed into a one-stop lifestyle destination that boasts a coffee shop, cinema, co-working space, and even a rooftop workout/hangout spot. Expect a serious scene each morning of creatives, corporates, locals, and guests in the much-loved Paramount Coffee Project or an after work crew in the Golden Age Bar taking part in a pre-cinema drink on the lower basement level. And yes, the story has it that this is the same small retro-style cinema in which Paramount Pictures would screen their newest releases some 80 years ago. A perfect way to enjoy a comfortable night is to grab a flick and stumble seamlessly right back up to your room for rest.

Weekends and lunch times draw a strong crowd to take up the rooftop delectables baked by no other than AP Bakery. The produce coming out of here is simply next level. Take it from a local; we would strongly recommend you check this space out for one solid seating to not only take in some of the best local faire but maybe equally as important, a good people watch.

This boutique hotel offers a unique experience with well-thought-out details that will delight design enthusiasts. The restoration process has been executed with no fad or gimmick in sight, allowing the original brick walls and textured surfaces to be accented by raw brass fixtures and complemented by stone finishes. All rooms are ensuite, with some giving an admirable sun space and view out to the historical Griffith Tea Building.

A worthy reservation and visit on your next Sydney adventure.
