Marufukuro Hotel

Calling all Nintendo fans!

Set within a hall of four beautifully crafted buildings, the founding headquarters of Nintendo boasts a unique blend of style that stands the test of time. Designed by the renowned Tadao Ando, every detail of the Marufukuro Hotel has been artfully executed. Designed in the art deco style popular in early Showa era Japan, the building's striking features include the use of straight lines, geometric patterns, and vibrant colour palettes.

There are two buildings: the original and the new. The new building, designed by Tadao Ando, takes on a fresh, modern, and minimalist approach to its rooms and suites. In the annexe, you'll find an array of room options, including king, twins, and suites. On the other hand, the original building exudes a retro vibe, combining Japanese features with western-style bedrooms. Take your pick from a variety of options, such as the Japanese Suite, Balcony King, Junior Suite, Superior, and Standard rooms.

The communal walls are adorned with an exquisite selection of artwork, making it feel somewhat like a beautiful art gallery.

The onsite restaurant is an intimate space with just 23 seats, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner for those who prefer to dine in. It is helmed by culinary expert Ai Hosokawa, who creatively combines traditional Japanese spices, condiments, and fermented foods to bring out unique flavours that are enhanced by the changing seasons.

Located just minutes away from the beautiful Kamo River, the Marufukuro Hotel is a charming and unique stay in Kyoto. Conveniently close to Kyoto train station and just 2 km away from Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Make sure to stop by the Nintendo memorabilia-filled library created by the Suppose Design Office.
